Skegness Grammar School

We produce well-rounded individuals, and take pride in their personal achievements. Our students aspire to high academic success, whilst enjoying a variety of extra curricular opportunities.

A warm welcome awaits you at Wainfleet Hall.

Wainfleet Hall is something that we are all very proud of here at Skegness Grammar School.

We believe that we offer something unique and that we provide an environment where your child can flourish as part of a strong caring, supportive and inspirational community.

Skegness Grammar School is one of England’s leading grammar schools, with a reputation built upon both our heritage and our commitment to embracing new and exciting ways to help our students excel in the modern world.

Since the school was founded by the Lord High Chancellor of England over 500 years ago, we have offered thousands of students a strong all-round education. Our principle aim is to deliver academic excellence, encouraging students to become respectful, confident, articulate and motivated young people, who take responsibility for both their own learning and their role within society.

Nowhere is this more evident than in our fantastic boarding facilities in the beautiful Wainfleet Hall, situated in the heart of rural Lincolnshire.

Message from the Director of Boarding

Director of Boarding: Tim AllenTim Allen

Situated just a few miles from Skegness Grammar school, Wainfleet Hall offers a warm and welcoming environment for students from Year 7 through to Year 13.

The clear divide between where a student goes to lessons and where they can relax and focus on other interests sets us apart from many other boarding schools. Students consider Wainfleet Hall a ‘home away from home’, a place where they meet lifelong friends and create fantastic memories.

We have a dedicated and experienced team of staff here at Wainfleet, who always go above and beyond to offer a wonderful, relaxed and homely environment where young people can feel secure and flourish in their academic and personal development. Tutors are also on hand to provide additional support for our students, and each day features dedicated prep time for independent study.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Wainfleet Hall for a tour of our beautiful boarding house and grounds, please contact Ginny Harrop on 01754 610000 to arrange a suitable time.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Meet the Team

Life As a Boarder

We ensure that each student feels happy with boarding life from the start and we are always there to help.

A home away from home

Every young person in our care is encouraged to make themselves at home from the moment that they step through our doors.

With high quality dining facilities, spacious rooms and dedicated communal areas, students can relax and socialise with their peers.

Quiet study areas and a fully equipped computer suite offer the perfect learning environment for daily prep and revision, while the surrounding grounds provide acres of space for sporting activities.

We welcome many young people from a range of nationalities and cultures. As well as British and European students, young people join us from places as diverse as Nigeria, Hong Kong and China. Having this mix of students helps each young person to gain an invaluable view of the world we live in.

Pastoral Care is at the centre of life at Wainfleet Hall

We are proud to work in partnership with parents, governors and the school, to ensure that each student is known as an individual and encouraged to thrive throughout their time with us.

Staff are always on hand to listen and support our students, providing a homely atmosphere with structure, routines and clear boundaries for every young person. Parents are kept informed of students’ progress as well as any issues or concerns that are raised.

The school nurse visits regularly, providing a weekly drop-in service for all age groups, while senior boarders act as role models and mentors for younger students at the boarding house.

To encourage and support boarders as they develop their own independence, we also ensure that every student has access to all the amenities of a normal home – like a kitchen and lots of communal social areas.

Boarders are encouraged to have their say on how the boarding house is run, sharing their views on food, boarding and the activities on offer at Wainfleet Hall. Students also feed into Skegness Grammar’s school council to ensure that the needs of boarders are met at the main school site.
