Skegness Grammar School

We produce well-rounded individuals, and take pride in their personal achievements. Our students aspire to high academic success, whilst enjoying a variety of extra curricular opportunities.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

We are proud to offer the Duke of Edinburgh award here at Skegness Grammar School. This award gives students the opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience, and enjoyment for the outdoors. The award is recognised for the commitment it demands by employers and universities alike. We offer all three levels of the award: Bronze, Silver, and Gold to our students. The Bronze and Silver awards require completion of a physical, skills, volunteering, and expedition section. The Gold award requires an additional section, a residential section, to also be completed. All sections, bar the expedition, are completed independently. This encourages students to build their independence. Students can use cultural and sports clubs they already attend to complete the award sections.

DofE Students

We carry out the expedition sections in the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Lake District. This offers students the opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful places in England whilst hiking with their friends. Students enjoy the freedom they have to make autonomous decisions regarding their route and safety whilst DofE Studentswalking.

At Skegness Grammar, we offer the Bronze award to Year 9 students, Silver to Year 10, and Gold to Year 12. Information is released regarding signing up for these awards in the June prior to students entering the required year group. Please check MCAS messages for information regarding enrolling for this award.
