Skegness Grammar School

We produce well-rounded individuals, and take pride in their personal achievements. Our students aspire to high academic success, whilst enjoying a variety of extra curricular opportunities.

Sport

Sport is an essential part of school life at Skegness Grammar School.

Physical Education and sport enable pupils to develop important skills such as team spirit, cooperation, dedication and also to keep fit and healthy. We ensure that we provide an extensive and varied sports curriculum for all our students.

Our sports facilities are second to none in the local area and include:

  • Sports Hall
  • Fitness gym
  • Multi-purpose tennis courts
  • Multiple playing fields
  • Hard court netball
  • Astro-turf pitch
  • Climbig wall
  • We are also privileged to have use of excellent local facilities.

We see the value and actively encourage students to take up various roles within sport as well as performing such as coaching and officiating. Many of our students complete professional coaching qualifications; these individuals further support and enhance our provision by coaching younger students and officiating at local fixtures in addition to Level 3 competitions.

With our sponsor DRET come great opportunities for our students including but not limited to; opportunities to apply for bursaries, attend huge trust wide events such as the DRET Summer Cup, and to participate in All Stars teams in Netball, Football, Rugby, and Rowing.

We run regular trips to high quality fixtures having previously been to watch Manchester United in Europe and the Premiership, Leicester Tigers in Europe and the Premiership, hockey at the Olympic site and residential trips which have included: skiing in Europe, a water sports trip to Spain and netball and football tours to Shrewsbury.

The social, moral, cultural and spiritual development of students is significant and is at the core of what we do and how we contribute to the positive ethos at SGS. This is partly due to the wide enrichment programme available and the sporting successes that the school enjoys. (Ofsted May 2014).
